Where The Alarms Should Be Sited
General placement guidance for smoke, carbon monoxide and heat alarms in residential properties, subject to local rules and product instructions.
The alarms should be sited as follows:
An interlinked smoke alarm should be sited in the room most used on a daily basis-usually the liveing room.
An interlinked heat alarm should be fitted in the kitchen.
An interlinked smoke alarm should also be fitted in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings.
In addition, a carbon monoxide detector (interlinked or standalone) should be sited in any area where you have a carbon-fulled appliance, like a boiler, fire, heater or flue.
To fully protect your home, smoke alarms should be sited in every bedroom.
